A Danish pewter jug by Just Andersen, from the 1940s-1950s, with a woven rattan handle.
The body is a smooth, rounded sphere that rises into a wide neck with a sharply cut pouring lip. The angular pewter handle mounts are wrapped in tightly woven rattan, a warm honey tone against the soft grey metal. The pewter has a quiet, silvery sheen and a gentle patina. Simple and sculptural, it works as a water or juice jug, or as a vase for branches and dried stems.
The pewter has a quiet, silvery sheen and a gentle patina. There are a few small dark oxidation spots on the front of the body, as shown in the photos, along with light surface scratches and rubbing consistent with age and use. The rattan is intact.
The base is stamped with the Just triangle mark, "Denmark" and the model number 2676.
