A hand-thrown stoneware jug by Lisbeth Sallingboe, signed on the base.
The body is a tapering cone with a short neck and a softly frilled, pinched rim that forms a spout. Throwing rings run all the way up, so you can see and feel how it was made. The lower third is left as raw, dark reddish clay, and above it the glaze turns glossy, in deep chocolate brown with grey-green tones on the neck and shoulder. Around the middle, a pattern of dark and green painted strokes in a zigzag or W shape adds a quiet graphic detail. A thick, rounded loop handle balances the form.
The signature is incised into the unglazed base.
It works as a jug for water or milk, or as a vase for branches, dried stems or a few flowers. It suits a Nordic or earthy interior, on a table, shelf or windowsill.
H: 19,5cm
